Srinagar
The summer capital of the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir, this spectacular hill resort is one of the favorite tourist attractions of Jammu and Kashmir. Surrounded by the Jhelum River on both sides, the scenic beauty of Srinagar has been referred to as heaven on earth. Srinagar is also known as the land of Lakes and gardens owing to an abundance of both in the place. There are many sightseeing places in and around Srinagar. The place is famously known for its exquisite Kashmiri handicrafts.
The Dal Lake is a renowned landmark. In order to enjoy the intricate beauty of the Dal Lake, tourists can take a tour through traditional Kasmiri boats called Shikaras. The shikara ride into the dissolving sunset on the Dal lake is an experience of a lifetime. Besides the Dal Lake, other sightseeing places of Srinagar include the Shalimar Bagh, the Chashme Shahi and the Nishat Bagh.
   

   
Sonmarg
Sonmarg, meaning literally the valley of Gold, is one of the renowned tourist attractions of Jammu and Kashmir. The gorgeous hill station truly looks like a valley of gold during spring when the yellow crocuses fill the valley. A legend surrounding the name of Sonmarg is that somewhere in the valley is a well, whose water can turn anything into gold. One among the famous tourist destinations of Jammu and Kashmir, Sonmarg is a small hill station carved by a valley by the river Sindh. This picturesque Sindh valley flourishes with many varieties of alpine flowers in the springtime.
There are many sightseeing places in and around Sonmarg; and Sonmarg itself offers tourist attractions like winter adventure sports. The attractions of Sonmarg include white water rafting, alpine skiing, trekking and sledging. The sightseeing places in and around Sonmarg include Satsar and Krishnasar Lakes, Joji la pass and gangabal (Harmukh Ganga).
   

   
Pahalgam
When considering Kashmir Tourist attractions, the names that come to the forefront of mind include Pahalgam. Famously known as the starting point of the amaranth pilgrimage, Pahalgam in itself is an independent tourist destination. There are many sightseeing places in and around Pahalgam, attracting tourists from all over the world. Pahalgam is famously known for the winter adventure sports. A photographer's delight, Pahalgam offers multiple other opportunities like white water rafting, Alpine skiing, trekking, fishing and horse riding.
Pahalgam is located 95kms away from Srinagar. The place bustles with life in July August as thousands of pilgrims throng Pahalgam as their base camp to Amarnath Yatra. If you do not intend to go on the yatra, then its best to avoid the bustling crowd during this time. The months of mid April and mid November are best times for sightseeing places in and around Pahalgam.
   

   
Gulmarg
Gulmarg, literally meaning the valley of flowers, is among the favorite tourist attractions of Kashmir. Gulmarg in springtime is a flowery paradise and in the winter, it is the favorite haunt of skiers. The background of many Bollywood movies, Gulmarg is a fabulous tourist spot to visit. There are plenty of sightseeing places in and around Gulmarg; situated in the Baramullah district of Kashmir, the place is 57kms southwest of Srinagar. Apart from the skiing plains of Khilanmarg, other sightseeing places include the Alpather Lake and the shrine of Baba Reshi, an ancient Islam mystic saint. This picturesque Alpine lake remains frozen until late June.
Gulmarg has earned a unique reputation among the tourist destinations of adventure sports because of its amazing snowy slopes. In fact, Gulmarg is Asia's sole heli-skiing resort. Even amateur skiers can enjoy the excitement of skiing in Gulmarg. Gulmarg also hosts world's highest golf course.
